Pre-Conference Workshop: Leveraging Chatbots for Prompt-based Conversational Machine Translation (PCMT): Exploring Use Cases For Video Game Localization Training, Learning and Process
Date: May 28, 2025 PM-
Venue: TBC
Abstract:
As the gaming industry expands globally, the demand for machine translation solutions that can support human video game localizers in their adaptation endeavours has never been greater. Informed by results from a granted pedagogical project, this workshop explores the potential of chatbots in Prompt-based Conversational Machine Translation (PCMT) for video game localization. PCMT, powered by advanced AI chatbots, oOers complementary support to human abilities by enabling real-time, context-aware translations through interactive prompts. This session will delve into the practical applications of PCMT in video game localization teaching and training, as well as in video game localization processes, including terminology extraction and definition, linguistic and cultural adaptation, etc. Certain limitations detected during the project will also be discussed during the session. By the end of the workshop participants will have gained actionable insights into leveraging PCMT for video game localization training, learning and process.
